CitationShares now CitationAir - Citation HeavenBy Mark A. Gardner June 14, 2009 CitationShares, founded in 2000, is a subsidiary of Cessna Aircraft Company that provides private aviation services. It offers services in fractional jet ownership, jet card membership, corporate solutions and whole aircraft management. CitationShares is one of the four major players in the private aviation market.[1] It is a seven-time winner of Best of the Best awards from the Robb Report, most recently in 2009.[2] *1 Since CitationShares is a subsidiary of the Cessna Aircraft Company, they get the same advantage in pricing as FlexJet gets from Bombardier. Newer equipment, less maintenance worries and a stable company platform to build on. Personally, I like the fact, this company uses only the Cessna product line; In my mind, the best Corporate Jet fleet is built by Cessna. I like the Citations, because, for the most part, all the systems are simple, and similar: it does'nt matter which Citation you are flying you'll feel at home behind the controls. CitationShares is another one of the better fractional operators out there. The pilot group seems to be happy in general, most of the complaints are generally QOL complaints... (Quality of Life) nothing new here this is the general topic of discussing with all the Fracs. *1a CitationShares has a fleet of approximately 80 Cessna Citation Jets.[4] The fleet consists of 4 different types of Citations: CitationShares is another one of the better fractional operators out there. The pilot group seems to be happy in general, most of the complaints are generally QOL complaints... (Quality of Life) nothing new here this is the general topic of discussing with all the Fracs. The following is the current CitationShares Pay Scale: *2 CitationShares Pilot Pay Scale | | Year | All Captain | All FO | | Captain Day Off Pay | FO Day Off Pay | | | 10 | $103,000 | $59,430 | | $849 | $490 | | | 9 | $101,000 | $57,990 | | $832 | $478 | | | 8 | $98,000 | $56,570 | | $808 | $466 | | | 7 | $95,000 | $55,190 | | $783 | $455 | | | 6 | $93,000 | $53,850 | | $766 | $444 | | | 5 | $91,000 | $52,530 | | $750 | $433 | | | 4 | $81,000 | $51,250 | | $668 | $422 | | | 3 | $72,000 | $50,000 | | $593 | $412 | | | 2 | $66,000 | $45,000 | | $544 | $371 | | | 1 | $64,000 | $40,000 | | $527 | $330 | | | | Rates reflect annual salary | | Rates are per day off flown | | | | | | | | | | | Per Diem: | | Domestict: | $2.30/hr | International: | $2.30/hr |

Overall, CitationShares is a good company, it will likely continue to be stable due to it's backing by the Cessna Aircraft Company. Since the company is only about 1/10th of the size of NetJets the opportunities for employment are limitied.... (Less pilot hiring.) The CitationShares "Area of Operation" is the Lower 48 (USA), Southern Canada, Mexico and most of the Caribbean. FlexJet

FlexJet, your next job?By Mark A. Gardner June 8, 2009 FlexJet is a Texas based "Fractional" operator; It is the second largest "Fractional," behind NetJets. The size difference between NetJets and FlexJet is huge; FlexJet is a much smaller company, however, that being said, they are still Number two! *1Established in 1995, FlexJet is based in Richardson, Texas; The company, is owned by Bombardier (http://www.bombardier.com/), a company that specializes in Transportation development, trains and planes, primarily. "Flexjet offers a variety of private jet travel options. In Early 2008, the company branded itself as the purveyor of the "working man's private jet" choosing to focus more on the business necessity of flying privately, as opposed to a perceived jet-setting, self-indulgent lifestyle." Fiexjet's fleet *2 is made up of the following aircraft: Fleet Since FlexJet is a division of Bombardier, they use only the LearJet and Challenger products, which they build. One of their sales points touts, they the youngest aircraft fleet of any of the fractionals. The backing, by the Bombardier company, and their young fleet, gives FlexJet the ability to offer slightly more competitive pricing, due to a better jet purchase price; It also provides and outlet for additional sales to Bombardier. Since FlexJet has been in the business for a much shorter time than NetJets, their isn't as much history as their much larger competitor. FlexJet, overall, has been stable with a well executed planned growth schedule; That plan has kept them in business, and prosperous, unlike some other companies, I won't specifically mention here. What can we expect to see next? FlexJet has a large stable company behind it, in Bombardier. Considering the history of the FlexJet franchise, I would expect the same slow growth we've seen over the past few years. Unless managment changes it's strategy, I don't think you are going to see explosive growth, when the economy eventually recovers. In conclusion, like everyone else, very little hiring is going on at this time, when the industry starts its recovery the FlexJet product should be competitive with the rest of the Fractional business. The big question for the Fractional guys is how will companies like XOJet and JetSuite change the market? I guess we'll have to wait and see. Here are the Pilot Pay Scales for the FlexJet company: | *3 FlexJet Pilot Pay Scale | | | Challenger Captain | | | Year | Daily Rate | 221 Days | 208 Days | 195 Days | OT Daily Rate | | | 12 | $573 | $126,633 | $119,184 | $111,735 | $725 | | | 11 | $561 | $123,981 | $116,688 | $109,395 | $725 | | | 10 | $550 | $121,550 | $114,400 | $107,250 | $725 | | | 9 | $536 | $118,456 | $111,488 | $104,520 | $725 | | | 8 | $521 | $115,141 | $108,368 | $101,595 | $725 | | | 7 | $506 | $111,826 | $105,248 | $98,670 | $725 | | | 6 | $492 | $108,732 | $102,336 | $95,940 | $650 | | | 5 | $487 | $107,627 | $101,296 | $94,965 | $650 | | | 4 | $474 | $104,754 | $98,592 | $92,430 | $650 | | | 3 | $420 | $92,820 | $87,360 | $81,900 | $650 | | | 2 | $375 | $82,875 | $78,000 | $73,125 | $650 | | | 1 | $361 | $79,781 | $75,088 | $70,395 | $650 | | | | | | | | | | | | Learjet Captain | | | Year | Daily Rate | 221 Days | 208 Days | 195 Days | OT Daily Rate | | | 10 | $476 | $105,196 | $99,008 | $92,820 | $650 | | | 9 | $467 | $103,207 | $97,136 | $91,065 | $650 | | | 8 | $453 | $100,113 | $94,224 | $88,335 | $650 | | | 7 | $440 | $97,240 | $91,520 | $85,800 | $650 | | | 6 | $425 | $93,925 | $88,400 | $82,875 | $550 | | | 5 | $413 | $91,273 | $85,904 | $80,535 | $550 | | | 4 | $400 | $88,400 | $83,200 | $78,000 | $550 | | | 3 | $346 | $76,466 | $71,968 | $67,470 | $550 | | | 2 | $301 | $66,521 | $62,608 | $58,695 | $550 | | | 1 | $286 | $63,206 | $59,488 | $55,770 | $550 | | | | | | | | | | | | All First Officers | | | Year | Daily Rate | 221 Days | 208 Days | 195 Days | OT Daily Rate | | | 6 | $257 | $54,998 | $51,914 | $50,115 | $350 | | | 5 | $251 | $53,714 | $50,702 | $48,945 | $350 | | | 4 | $243 | $52,002 | $49,086 | $47,386 | $350 | | | 3 | $223 | $47,722 | $45,046 | $43,385 | $325 | | | 2 | $211 | $45,154 | $42,622 | $41,145 | $325 | | | 1 | $191 | $40,874 | $38,582 | $37,245 | $325 | | | | | | | | | | | International Bonus: | $100/day |

NetJets
Saturday, 06 June 2009 15:29
NetJets who are they?By Mark A. Gardner June 6, 2009 (D-Day) NetJets, Inc. Is based in Columbus, Ohio, the company is currently owned by, Berkshire Hathaway, a very large company; It also owns Geico, Friuit of the Loom, FlightSafety International, See"s Candies, and othes. Warren Buffet, last years, Richest Man in the World" runs the Berkshire Hathaway Company. NetJets Inc. formerly Executive Jet Aviation. began in 1964. Was one of the first private business jet charter and aircraft management companies. The NetJets program was created in 1986 by Richard Santulli, the Chairman and CEO of NetJets Inc. as the first fractional aircraft ownership program. In 1998, after being a NetJets customer for three years, Warren Buffett, Chairman & CEO of the Berkshire Hathaway company, acquired NetJets Inc. Since the purchase of the company, by Berkshire Hathaway, the company has become the premier "fractional" corporate provider. The company has been so succesful, that technically, it is the World's Largest Airline" with over 800 business jets worldwide. The following is a breakdown of the NetJet's fleet*1 by aircraft size: NetJets is not the only Fractional provider, out there, however, it is the largest: Some of the other major players, include, FlexJet, CitationShares and Flight Options. I am not sure, but I believe, the combined fleets of these operators don't amount to the total fleet numbers of NetJets! That's right, NetJet's is the 800 pound Gorilla in the room! So what's next for NetJets? Well for now, the Giant is in a period of rest. The Economic Crash of 2009, has caused the company to slow it's growth and cancel orders for new aircraft deliveries. These cancellations have in turn, affected the rest of the General Aviation; For instance, the Cessna Aircraft company was hit very hard by the cancellation of a major NetJet's alrcraft order. *2 "Textron’s Cessna aircraft division will see “well over” 150 orders dropped in the second quarter, chief executive officer Lewis Campbell said at the Electrical Products Group conference in Longboat Key, Fla. The cancellations may include purchase agreements from “big customers like NetJets and others” and 70 to 80 orders for the new Columbus model, on which the plane maker suspended work last month, Campbell said." http://www.projo.com/business/content/bz_textron20_05-20-09_4JEED0C_v6.2e27b95.html *2 Since NetJets is a major player in the industry, you can expect the rest of 2009 to be slow in this part of the Aviation. If, you are a Pilot, NetJets is taking applications, however, I wouldn't expect to called, for an interview, unless you are highly qualified. In fact, Netjets is doing everything it can to minimize it's expenditures, at this time. What's ahead for the company? Well, this depends a many factors, first that Berkshire Hathaway retains ownership in the company. There is no sign that this will change in the future, so, we can look to other factors that may be important. How about fuel prices? That's a big factor. In 2008, the price of fuel was affecting everything in the ecomomy. 2009 has given us a break, however, for 2010 and beyond, I would look for this to be a major determinant in the growth of the industry. Inflation is going to raise it ugly head soon. This will be good for the industry bottom line, in the asset catagory, but eventually it will hurt sales. Next, demand.... Will there be a demand for business aircraft? Yes, there will always be a demand; the question is how much of a demand? Since the cost of ownership of a corporate aircraft will likely increase in the next couple of years, I think you can look for most of the growth, in the corporate area, to occur in the Fractional and Air Taxi segments. So what does this all mean? In the case of NetJets, it's likely that the company's dominate position in it's business segment will ensure it's continued success. As for the rest of the pack, FlexJet and CitationShares will likely remain solvent. This is a tough time in Aviation our livelyhoods are dependent on companies like NetJets. The success, or failure, of these companies will be a large factor in our success, or failure, as Aviators. I believe that in mid 2010, the pilot employment picture will improve dramatically; The next couple of years will be up and down with the economy, however, in general, things should improve. Are you wondering what NetJets Pay Scales are like? Well here they are: *3 NetJets Pilot Pay Scale | | | | | | | | | | | BBJ Captain | DA-2000EX Captain | G-200/DA-2000 Captain | | Year | Normal | Reserve | Normal | Reserve | Normal | Reserve | | 15 | --- | --- | --- | --- | +COLA | +COLA | | 14 | --- | --- | --- | --- | $120,840 | $143,420 | | 13 | --- | --- | --- | --- | $117,130 | $139,010 | | 12 | --- | --- | --- | --- | $113,420 | $134,610 | | 11 | +COLA | +COLA | +COLA | +COLA | $109,710 | $130,210 | | 10 | $193,670 | $229,850 | $167,140 | $198,360 | $106,000 | $125,800 | | 9 | $186,670 | $221,540 | $161,100 | $191,190 | $102,800 | $122,000 | | 8 | $179,920 | $213,540 | $155,270 | $184,280 | $99,600 | $118,210 | | 7 | $173,420 | $205,820 | $149,660 | $177,620 | $96,400 | $114,410 | | 6 | $167,150 | $198,380 | $144,250 | $171,200 | $93,200 | $110,610 | | 5 | $161,110 | $191,210 | $139,040 | $165,010 | $90,000 | $106,810 | | 4 | $155,290 | $184,300 | $134,010 | $159,050 | $80,630 | $95,690 | | 3 | $149,670 | $177,640 | $129,170 | $153,300 | $71,250 | $84,560 | | 2 | $144,260 | $171,220 | $124,500 | $147,760 | $61,880 | $73,430 | | 1 | $139,050 | $165,030 | $120,000 | $142,420 | $52,500 | $62,310 | | | | | | | | | | | CE-650/680/750 Hawker 800/1000 Captain | CE-560/560XL BE-400 Captain | | | | Year | Normal | Reserve | Normal | Reserve | | | | 15 | +COLA | +COLA | +COLA | +COLA | | | | 14 | $116,600 | $138,380 | $110,250 | $130,850 | | | | 13 | $113,950 | $135,240 | $108,000 | $128,180 | | | | 12 | $111,300 | $132,090 | $105,750 | $125,510 | | | | 11 | $108,650 | $128,950 | $103,500 | $122,840 | | | | 10 | $106,000 | $125,800 | $101,250 | $120,170 | | | | 9 | $102,800 | $122,000 | $99,000 | $117,500 | | | | 8 | $99,600 | $118,210 | $96,750 | $114,820 | | | | 7 | $96,400 | $114,410 | $94,500 | $112,150 | | | | 6 | $93,200 | $110,610 | $92,250 | $109,480 | | | | 5 | $90,000 | $106,810 | $90,000 | $106,810 | | | | 4 | $80,630 | $95,690 | $80,630 | $95,690 | | | | 3 | $71,250 | $84,560 | $71,250 | $84,560 | | | | 2 | $61,880 | $73,430 | $61,880 | $73,430 | | | | 1 | $52,500 | $62,310 | $52,500 | $62,310 | | | | | | | | | | | | | BBJ First Officer | DA-2000EX/GIV-SP/GV First Officer | BE-400 thru DA-2000 First Officer | | Year | Normal | Reserve | Normal | Reserve | Normal | Reserve | | 11 | +COLA | +COLA | +COLA | +COLA | --- | --- | | 10 | $88,580 | $105,130 | $69,640 | $82,650 | --- | --- | | 9 | $85,490 | $101,460 | $67,120 | $79,660 | --- | --- | | 8 | $82,400 | $97,793 | $64,700 | $76,780 | --- | --- | | 7 | $79,310 | $94,130 | $62,360 | $74,010 | --- | --- | | 6 | $76,220 | $90,460 | $60,110 | $71,330 | +COLA | +COLA | | 5 | $73,130 | $86,790 | $57,930 | $68,760 | $47,410 | $56,260 | | 4 | $70,040 | $83,120 | $55,840 | $66,270 | $45,150 | $53,580 | | 3 | $66,950 | $79,460 | $53,820 | $63,880 | $43,000 | $51,030 | | 2 | $63,860 | $75,790 | $51,880 | $61,570 | $40,950 | $48,600 | | 1 | $60,770 | $72,120 | $50,000 | $59,340 | $39,000 | $46,290 | | | | | | | | | | Normal = | 7 days on, 7 days off (or 15.2 days/mo) | Reserve = | 18 days/mo | | | Overtime rate: | 150% of hourly rate equivalent

JetSuite LLc, have you heard of them yet?
By Mark A. Gardner
Picture taken by AirlineReporter.com
JetSuite LLc, is a new company just getting started. For now their main offices are located at the Long Beach airport, just of the 405 freeway. JetSuite's management is mostly from the JetBlue mold. it's CEO was one of the founding pricipals of JetBlue back in 1998. The other corporate officer were also recruited out of JetBlue and Southwest.
JetSuite's concept adopts a new twist to corporate jet model, basically JetSuite is a charter/aircraft managment company using the VLJ concept to undercut it's competitors. The company has the largest order of Phenom 100's in the United States. With an order of 100 Phenom's at at special pricing, JetSuite will be able to offer a price point lower than almost every jet operator; even the King Air 200 will have a hard time competing with this VLJ concept.
