Gulfstream Secures Key NextGen Approval
Gulfstream has received two key approvals that will enable its aircraft to take advantage of NextGen operational capabilities. The Savanna, Ga., airframer secured FAA clearance for its large-cabin business jets to fly Required Navigational Performance-Special Aircraft and Aircrew Authorization Required (RNP-SAAAR) approaches to a minimum of 0.1 nm. In addition, FAA approved Gulfstream’s flight operations department to use the Future Air Navigation System (FANS) 1/A data link on its G450 aircraft.
The RNP-SAAAR authorization followed similar operational capability approval granted in late 2007 for RNP-SAAAR approaches to a minimum of RNP 0.3. The latest approval covers Gulfstream’s large-cabin aircraft equipped with the enhanced navigation package that is part of Certification Foxtrot, Gulfstream’s newest PlaneView upgrade, and to pilots who have a letter of authorization from the FAA.
