FlexJet is a Texas based "Fractional" operator; It is the second largest "Fractional," behind NetJets. The size difference between NetJets and FlexJet is huge; FlexJet is a much smaller company, however, that being said, they are still Number two!
*1Established in 1995, FlexJet is based in Richardson, Texas; The company, is owned by Bombardier (http://www.bombardier.com/), a company that specializes in Transportation development, trains and planes, primarily. "Flexjet offers a variety of private jet travel options. In Early 2008, the company branded itself as the purveyor of the "working man's private jet" choosing to focus more on the business necessity of flying privately, as opposed to a perceived jet-setting, self-indulgent lifestyle."
Fiexjet's fleet *2 is made up of the following aircraft:
Fleet
Since FlexJet is a division of Bombardier, they use only the LearJet and Challenger products, which they build. One of their sales points touts, they the youngest aircraft fleet of any of the fractionals. The backing, by the Bombardier company, and their young fleet, gives FlexJet the ability to offer slightly more competitive pricing, due to a better jet purchase price; It also provides and outlet for additional sales to Bombardier.
Since FlexJet has been in the business for a much shorter time than NetJets, their isn't as much history as their much larger competitor.
FlexJet, overall, has been stable with a well executed planned growth schedule; That plan has kept them in business, and prosperous, unlike some other companies, I won't specifically mention here.
What can we expect to see next?
FlexJet has a large stable company behind it, in Bombardier. Considering the history of the FlexJet franchise, I would expect the same slow growth we've seen over the past few years. Unless managment changes it's strategy, I don't think you are going to see explosive growth, when the economy eventually recovers.
In conclusion, like everyone else, very little hiring is going on at this time, when the industry starts its recovery the FlexJet product should be competitive with the rest of the Fractional business. The big question for the Fractional guys is how will companies like XOJet and JetSuite change the market? I guess we'll have to wait and see.
